our day will come.

class outing today was pretty fun, except for the little episode at aston's. it has kind of put me off eating there because i honestly expected more of their service staff.

for some reason, the service staff thought that we cut the queue because we were right in front of the menus beside the actual queue. some waitress came to ask us where did we come from, and because my friend is a bastard, he very snidely said, "we were from the back of the queue, now we are at the front of the queue. you see, the queue moves so we just moved along with it." if i were the waitress, i would be pretty pissed too because he sounded like a condescending ass but that's just the way he speaks when he thinks he's being funny.

then another guy asked us if we cut the queue and somehow he thought it would be funny to repeat the above response to the dude. this guy then told us to line up behind the first customers of the queue at an right angle and asked if we were ready to order. obviously the first thing that we asked for was a menu because you're just supposed to get one before ordering the food. the bastard actually said, "there are actually menus here (gestures to signboards), you know, for those of you who cannot see," before he handed us the menus.

wtf. if i weren't that tired i would have countered that with something equally sarcastic. what sort of service is that? my friend was at fault for being such an arrogant snot and i couldn't possibly expect them to understand that that's just the way he is but this is no way to speak to potential customers even if you are overwhelmed by the number of customers. secondly, we really couldn't see the menus from where we stood after we had moved so there was no need to be that snarky. besides, they didn't specify exactly how the queue should be formed so it really wasn't our fault that we stood in a position that gave rise to the misunderstanding. furthermore, the tone they used was fairly accusatory which got us slightly annoyed, hence the response from my friend.

we don't pay service charge at aston's but that is no reason why the service staff should be so rude. i have half a mind to boycott that place just because of that insolent fellow.
